Admirals win and so do the fans!
St. Joseph, MI - The Lake Michigan Admirals were at it again Sunday night at Michigan Lutheran High School in front of an estimated 600 fans. All the Admirals needed to do is score 125 points and everyone in attendance would get a free 6" sub from Subway. Could they possibly do it two days in a row? The game started out with a 38-22 first quarter lead and it looked like it was going to be a blow out but the Michiana Monarchs weren't ready to give up. With time running down in the first half, the Monarchs had cut down the lead to six points and Steve Strong hit a four point play to send the Admirals into the locker room with a 69-59 lead. "Steve Strong's last second shot before the half was key for us going into the locker room with momentum," stated Coach Eddie. Strong had 23 of his 32 points in the first half to give the Admirals the lead. Going into the third quarter, the Admirals were up 98-86 and it didn't look good for the Monarchs for the rest of the way. Celebrity player Pastor Glenn Rosenbaum scored the bucket that sent the fans on to their feet. The owner of Subway, Eric Christensen, got Chris Glisson's attention to announce he is lowering the point total for the free 6" give away to 125. "What are the chances of Pastor Glenn Rosenbaum making the shot that puts the Admirals over the 125 mark," screamed Chris Glisson over the PA. Sure enough with seconds left on the clock Pastor Glenn got the ball and made a reverse layup to seal the deal with Subway. Subway of Benton Harbor, Coloma, Watervliet, and South Haven gave away over 1200 six inch subs in two days. "I was glad to do it and am looking forward to doing it again," stated Eric Christensen, owner of Subway. Gus Chase ended up with a double double with 31pts and 16 rebounds. ABA All-Star Odgra Bobo had 21pts. Brandon Ball had a double doublewith 16pts and 10 assists. Over the weekend, Gus Chase and Brandon Ball had back to back games with a double double. Will Wright had 22pts for the Monarchs respectively. The Admirals are now 9-5. The Admirals final regular season game is Sunday, February 27th at Benton Harbor High School at 3:00pm.
